If you are looking for an alternative & less traditional celebration this July 4th, the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is hosting a Peaceful Pets Evening to help the shelter animals stay calm and anxiety free during the fireworks.
Fireworks can cause dogs and cats everywhere tremendous stress, and in an effort to reduce their anxiety in our shelter, we are inviting animal lovers to SIGN UP to spend time with our animals during our “Peaceful Pets” event from 7-10pm.
Participants can sit outside of our kennels and read out loud, play music, or share some great conversation with the animals! A collection station will also be set up in the lobby if you want to bring treats or toys for the dogs and cats.
Our aim is to create a low-stress environment for the animals in our care.
