Compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers are needed to tutor adults in English speaking, reading, and writing. Many also need support in preparing for the U.S. Citizenship interview.

Literacy Volunteers is seeking volunteer tutors to assist adults in learning how to read, write, or speak English. Many of our students are refugees and immigrants trying to become integrated community members.

No teaching experience is required. Most of our tutor/student pairs meet for two hours a week at a mutually convenient time and place. We ask for a year-long commitment. As a tutor, you will receive a rewarding experience knowing you’ve helped someone achieve their goals and improve their lives.

Training is six hours with a lunch break (lunch is provided). After completing training, you will meet with the Program Manager to discuss availability and student preferences.

Advanced registration is required. Volunteers must be 18+.
