If you’re looking for a great way to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with family, friends, and a sky full of fireworks, make plans to head to Gordonsville this Thursday evening.
While the Gordonsville Main Street Fourth of July Parade has been postponed, the celebration is still very much on with “Fireworks at the Airfield” at the Gordonsville Municipal Airport.
Gates open at 6 p.m. at the airport on Airport Road, and the fireworks begin at dark. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, settle in, and get ready for a spectacular patriotic display.
Come hungry, too. Gordonsville Little League will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, snacks, and other refreshments, with proceeds helping support local youth baseball.
Before the fireworks, be sure to stop by the community tables. You can learn more about the Town to Trail park project, enter their 50/50 raffle for a chance to win some cash, and visit with Cub Scout Pack 12 to find out about scouting opportunities and upcoming events.
Parking at the airport is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If those lots fill up, additional parking is available at the Gordonsville Fire House on East Baker Street, with a free shuttle taking you right to the airport.
It’s a wonderful evening of hometown fun, community spirit, and an unforgettable fireworks show celebrating 250 years of American independence.
