Join The Center at Belvedere for a powerful screening of Dottie—a 20-minute film exploring the emotional realities of dementia and caregiving through poignant, visually rich storytelling.
Created as a training tool by Articine, Dottie invites both professionals and families to see dementia through a more empathetic lens.
This film depicts the challenges of a woman whose life is being transformed by dementia. Producing artistic director Robin Marcotte leads a discussion after the screening. Articine is a nonprofit organization connecting artists and medical professionals to create and implement collaborative wellness.
“Dottie” is a powerful narrative that facilitates a deeper and more intimate understanding of how dementia impacts patients and their caregivers. Through researched storytelling and visually compelling scenes, the film demonstrates the challenging nuances of dementia’s grasp on the aging mind and body while also honoring the beauty of personhood. The program is also in partnership with UVA.
A discussion will follow, with a reception at 6:30 PM.
