If your idea of a perfect Saturday morning includes a little fresh air, a lot of community spirit, and maybe a stack of pancakes waiting for you at the finish line…
Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 25th, because the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department is hosting their second annual Firehouse 5K, Kids Fun Run, and Pancake Breakfast—all happening right at Fire Station 5.
The day kicks off early, with registration opening at 6:30 AM. The Kids Fun Run gets going at 8, followed by the 5K at 8:30. And whether you’re running, walking, or just cheering from the sidelines, everyone is invited to stick around for the Pancake Breakfast from 9 to 11.
And yes… pancakes never taste better than after a morning like that.
This event is more than just a race—it’s one of the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department’s biggest fundraisers of the year. The money raised goes directly toward firefighter training, fire prevention programs, and the community events you know and love—from open houses to holiday parades.
It’s also a chance to meet the people behind the gear. The volunteers who show up, day or night, to protect a huge portion of Albemarle County—147 square miles, to be exact.
And if you’ve got kids—or you’re just a kid at heart—there’s something really fun happening before race day. On Thursday and Friday evenings, April 23rd and 24th, you’re invited to Fire Station 5 to help wash the fire trucks. It’s hands-on, it’s a little splashy, and it’s a great way to meet the firefighters, explore the trucks, and even tour the station.
If you want to run, you can register in advance at RunSignUp.com. It’s $45 for the 5K, the Kids Fun Run is free, and first responders get a 50 percent discount.
The race starts and ends at Fire Station 5 on Three Notch’d Road in Crozet. Parking is limited, so plan ahead and give yourself a little extra time.
Whether you’re there to run, eat, volunteer, or just be part of something that feels really good… this is one of those events that brings the whole community together.
