Rockfish Valley Community Center Winter Market

Rockfish Valley Community Center Winter Market

Saturday, December 13th 2025 - 8:30 am - 12:00 pm at Rockfish Valley Community Center
190 Rockfish School Lane

Cold weather may be here, but that doesn’t mean the good vibes have to freeze. Nope! Our beloved local farmers market has packed up the outdoor tents and moved into a warm and cozy winter home over at RVCC — the Rockfish Valley Community Center!

Now, you can still scoop up your fresh local produce, handmade goodies, artisan crafts, and delicious treats… without your hands turning into popsicles. Bring the kids, bring your friends, bring your coffee — because this indoor market is all about keeping our community connected while supporting the hard-working folks who grow our food and create the gifts we love to give.

And hey — speaking of gifts, we’re coming into holiday season. Nothing says “thoughtful” like a handmade treasure from right here in our neck of the woods. So skip the big-box stress and shop where the smiles are real and the dollars stay local.

Now… if you’ve ever thought, “Hey, I could be part of that!” — or you know someone who makes something amazing and should be there — good news! They’re still accepting new vendors.

Just call (434) 361-0100 or send an email to events@rockfishcc.org for all the details.

So bundle up, swing by RVCC, keep it local, and keep the fun going all fall and winter long.

Hobbies for Humanity

Hobbies for Humanity

Monday, January 19th 2026 - 11:00 am - 5:00 pm at BrickHammer Hobbies
154 East Davis St

BrickHammer Hobbies, located at 154 East Davis Street, is doing something special for the community. Even though they’re normally closed on Mondays, they’re opening their doors Monday, January 19th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., for a one-day give-back event — and it’s all for a great cause.

On that day, 20 percent of all in-store sales will be donated directly to Habitat for Humanity of Culpeper County.

Now here’s why that matters. Habitat for Humanity helps first-time homebuyers in Culpeper and Culpeper County achieve homeownership when a traditional mortgage just isn’t possible. They also provide critical home repairs for neighbors in need — things like roof repairs, HVAC fixes, handicap ramps, security fencing, hot water heaters, and other essential, sometimes emergency, home improvements.

And while you’re there, BrickHammer Hobbies is making it a full day of fun. Their LEGO play area will be open for creative play, the board game library is ready for your next adventure, and the tables are set for gaming, building, or just hanging out with fellow Homefries.

So if you’re looking for something fun to do — and a way to give back at the same time — head to BrickHammer Hobbies on January 19th, shop local, play a little, and help build stronger homes right here in our community.

Fluvanna Free Swap

Fluvanna Free Swap

Saturday, January 24th 2026 - All Day at Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Dept & Rescue Squad Maple Room
10 Slice Road

Head to Fluvanna on Saturday, January 24th from 9am to 7pm and Sunday, the 25th from noon to 4 for an event built entirely on generosity and good vibes: the Fluvanna Free Swap.

This one happens in the Maple Room, right next to the Lake Monticello Fire Department. And the idea is beautifully simple — bring anything you no longer need and take anything that is useful to you. No money, no haggling. It’s a clean, community-powered exchange meant to keep good items circulating instead of piling up in closets or landfills.

Everything at the Free Swap is truly free… but there is one important request: no early birds. Let the volunteers finish setting up so everyone gets a fair shot once the doors open.

And for this swap only, there’s a special drop-off window. If you’ve got items ready to contribute, you can drop them off January 23rd from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lake Monticello Rescue Squad on Slice Road. That’s the only drop-off location for the 23rd — please do not leave items at the Maple Room that day.

The organizers kindly ask you to leave TVs, car seats, helmets, and mattresses at home. If you need tips on getting rid of them the right way, the event page is happy to help.

Project Linus of Culpeper

Project Linus of Culpeper

Saturday, January 24th 2026 - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at Rhoadesville Baptist Church
26042 Lafayette Drive

Here’s a hands-on way to help kids right here in our area.

Project Linus of Culpeper is kicking off the year by making blankets for children in crisis, and they want the community to be part of it.

The blanket-making day takes place on January 24th, running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rhoadesville Baptist Church.

You don’t have to be a master sewer to join in. You can sew quilts, make no-sew fleece blankets, help tie quilts, or bring your knitting or crocheting project and work alongside others. Sewing kits will be available, and if you sew, you’re encouraged to bring your machine and basic supplies.

There’s plenty to do even if you don’t sew, and everyone is welcome ages 12 and up.

They’re also hosting a potluck lunch, so bring a dish to share if you can, along with canned goods for the church.

Again, that’s Project Linus of Culpeper, January 24th, 8 to 5, at Rhoadesville Baptist Church, helping create comfort for children who need it most.

1781 Brewery 5K & 10K

1781 Brewery 5K & 10K

Saturday, February 14th 2026 - 2:30 pm at Wilderness Run
11109 Plank Rd

Lace up your shoes for the Falling for You 5K and 10K, happening Saturday, February 14th at 1781 Brewing Company in Spotsylvania.

This scenic cross-country run takes place on historic farmland right in the middle of the Chancellorsville and Wilderness battlefields — yes, that Wilderness, where history happened and hills are absolutely included. Walkers are welcome, so you don’t have to be a hardcore runner to take part.

The races kick off at 2:30 pm, with both the 5K and 10K starting together. The 5K is an out-and-back, and the 10K runs two laps of that course. Expect trails, elevation, and beautiful winter views.

All runners receive a finisher medal, a technical event shirt, chip-timed results, and the best post-race reward of all — a glass of beer from 1781 Brewing or wine from Wilderness Run Vineyards.

Best of all, proceeds benefit the Semper Fi & America’s Fund, supporting wounded service members, veterans, and their families.

Registration is open now, with early pricing available through January 31st. Race-day registration will be available, but prices go up and shirt sizes aren’t guaranteed.

For full details, registration, and course info, head to bishopsevents.com — and you can find a direct link right now at 3WV.com on the Community Cubbie page.

Run with your sweetheart, your friends, or just for the beer and the cause — that’s the Falling for You 5K and 10K, February 14th in Spotsylvania.

Racing Towards Preservation 5K/10K Rally

Racing Towards Preservation 5K/10K Rally

Saturday, March 7th 2026 - 8:30 am - 11:00 am at Wilderness Battlefield
35347 Constitution Hwy

If you’re looking for a way to get outside, get moving, and support historic preservation all at the same time, this one checks every box.

The Friends of Wilderness Battlefield are hosting a 5K and 10K race at Payne’s Farm in Locust Grove on Saturday, March 7th, 2026.

The race kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and wraps up around 11 o’clock, with the course located directly across from Zoar Baptist Church on Zoar Road.

This isn’t just any racecourse. Runners and walkers will be moving through dirt trails and open fields on the actual battlefield where the Battle of Payne’s Farm took place in November of 1863, during the Mine Run Campaign. So good walking or running shoes are definitely recommended.

The land is owned by the American Battlefield Trust for preservation and protection, and the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield work alongside them to help steward and protect this historic property.

Registration is open now through Bishop’s Events, and sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses or organizations who want to support historic preservation and get their name out there.

Sponsorships range from:

  • $100 to $149 for name recognition on the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield website

  • $150 to $249 for website recognition plus name placement on the event T-shirt

  • $250 and above for website recognition and your logo featured on the shirt

Sponsorship registration closes February 5th, so now’s the time to jump in.

You’ll find race registration, course maps, and sponsorship info online, with more details coming soon to the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield website.

A great cause, a beautiful setting, and a meaningful way to support history while getting some fresh air.
