If you’re looking for a small-town, big-time 4th of July celebration with music, food, fun, a parade, a Beauty Pageant, a Vesper service, a Country Music show, and some end-the-night-light-up-the-sky fireworks, then make your way out to Gypsy Hill Park for a wonderful family 3-day event. And it’s all FREE!

The only thing you need to bring is your lawn chair. Happy Birthday America, which is centered around giving back to the community as well as remembering and celebrating America’s favorite holiday, was started in 1970 by Staunton’s favorite sons, The Statler Brothers. Second-generation country music duo Wilson Fairchild now headlines the event with their show on the night of the 4th with their special music guest. Come wave your red, white, and blue, and we’ll see you in the park!

Peaceful Pets 4th of July
Thursday, July 4th 2024 – 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA
3355 Berkmar Dr
If you are looking for an alternative & less traditional celebration this July 4th, the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is hosting a “Peaceful Pets Evening” to help our shelter animals stay calm and anxiety free during the fireworks.
Fireworks can cause dogs and cats everywhere tremendous stress, and in an effort to reduce their anxiety in our shelter, we are inviting animal lovers to sign up to spend time with our animals during our “Peaceful Pets” event from 7-9pm.
Participants can sit outside of our kennels and read out loud, play music, or share some great conversation with the animals to keep them calm. Additionally, we kindly ask visitors to bring donations for the shelter, such as dry and wet canned food for our Community Pet Pantry, treats, toys, and other essentials.
Our aim is to create a low-stress environment for the animals in our care. If interested, CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!
