Learn how 18th century colonial trades contributed to the settlement of the Shenandoah Valley at Fort Harrison’s “Colonial Trades Fair”! Demonstrations include farrier (horseshoeing), broom making, flintknapping, gunsmithing , tape loom weaving, colonial medicine and surgery, weaving, spinning, food preservation, pottery and land surveying. Learn how Valley pioneers lived and worked from the 18 colonial trades on display.
There will be also be as sale of handcrafted items! The event is free and open to the public!
Fort Harrison is located at 355 Main Street, Dayton, VA, outside Harrisonburg.
