I admit it. I’m a sap! I watch “It’s A Wonderful Life,” the original Frank Capra film starring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey every year at Christmas time, and I cry every year! It’s a classic – but should classics be updated, or just left alone?
Today I read in Variety that the family Christmas classic is, indeed, set for an update. The new film will be titled “It’s A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story.” The original actress who played George Bailey’s daughter Zuzu, Karolyn Grimes, will reprise her role. She’ll come back as an angel to guide George Bailey’s grandson who apparently is a douche bag, and show him how the world would have been a better place without him. We can probably look forward to it being released during the 2015 holiday season.
OK… I’m a little curious! I’ll probably see it. If it’s a success, imagine the updates of other Christmas classics?
“A Christmas Story 2” – What dangerous toy would Ralphie’s grandson want for Christmas that his parents won’t buy for him?
Can you think of an update for “National Lampoon’s Vacation”?
