I’ve been a fan of Jeopardy since I was a kid and Art Fleming hosted the daytime edition. Then came the nighttime edition with Alex Trebek and I continued to watch. Now some 30 years later I still watch, often DVR’ing the show and playing along.
Now, I have an above-average IQ, but I’ve always felt stupid watching “Jeopardy.” In the past, I’ve probably been able to answer around twenty to thirty percent of the questions correctly and have rarely had the correct answer for the final Jeopardy question. Lately, however, I’ve noticed that I’m answering at least 75% of the questions correctly and getting the final Jeopardy question right about half the time.
Am I getting smarter?
Nope! The questions are a lot easier. More of the questions deal with pop culture, music and entertainment these days than science, religion and mythology, so they’re dumbing it down for people like me.
Maybe I should try out to become a contestant on the show…
