A very progressive-tolerant concert
A very progressive-tolerant concert

As we gear up for the concert season, I would like to propose a killer lineup that would feature Ted Nugent, The Dixie Chicks, Marilyn Manson and any other artists who have fell victim to censorship due to the expressing of an unpopular opinion.  Just recently some of Uncle Ted’s shows have been axed because of his insensitive political comments and pro-gun stance.  Some radio stations have gone as far as to ban his music. A few years back, it was The Dixie Chicks who were banned across the country for their ‘insensitive” remarks. Manson because he is simply the devil and influences children. The list goes on and on.  No matter what your political affiliation is or personal beliefs, I think most with any common sense would agree that it is wrong to censor or ban something just because you disagree with it.  Is still ok to just like their music?  Heaven help us should Mick Jagger or Robert Plant say something controversial. Would you like it if we banned The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin?

People often tell me that Charlottesville is this tolerant -progressive city.  Prove it!

What if we brought Ted Nugent, Dixie Chicks, Marylyn Manson and others into C’ville for a fight against censorship concert? I don’t care what they said, what they stand for or who they have upset.  Imagine the shock waves throughout our country.  But alas, I know I’m a dreamer. Being progressive and tolerant is a one way street.
