Zoning will stay just the way it is in Chartlottesville’s Fry’s Spring neighborhood. City Council considered a proposed zoning designation that would’ve affected more than 300 homes. The proposal was to switch from R2 to R1 zoning. R2 allows double-family occupancy in a single dwelling while R1 allows only single-family homes.¬†Many Fry’s Spring homeowners were worried that they would not be able to build a duplex or have an apartment in their house. Council voted to keep the R2 zoning designation.
