Yale Awards Legendary Virginia Musician Honorary Doctorate

Ralph Stanley, who’s a Southwest Virginia bluegrass legend, has been awarded an honorary doctorate from Yale University.
Yale calls the 87-year-old Stanley “the patriarch of traditional mountain and bluegrass music” and applauds him for bringing his southwest Virginia musical roots to “the concert halls of the world.”
