The “whale tail” might abandon its longtime home near the 250 Bypass before 2015 gets here. City Councilors have approved a short extension involving the whale tail structure at the entrance to the Meadowbrook Heights neighborhood. Brian Daley (pictured) of the Parks and Rec Department has made a recommendation to the council. He’s asked for an extension of no longer than six months so that he and the artist can reach an agreement. An artist gets $150 each month from the whale tail’s lease. It’s part of the Art in Place program, which places sculptures at high-profile locations.
