UVA Lacrosse Player Accused Of Hitting Police Officer

A UVA lacrosse player is accused of hitting a police officer during a disturbance on the University Corner in late November. City Police say 21-year-old Carl Douglas Walrath (pictured) is charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer. Police say Walrath was among several people involved in a fight in the early morning hours of November 24th on University Avenue. Walrath is accused of punching an officer in the face. He was arrested later near 13th and Wertland Streets. Walrath was also charged with the misdemeanors of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He has a court date next month.
