Utility Takes Over Danville Park During River Cleanup

A major utility has taken over one of Danville’s parks. Duke Energy has set up a process to clean up deposits of coal ash from the bottom of the Dan River. Abreu-Grogan Park in Danville has become an industrial site while the cleanup is underway. Federal officials are monitoring coal ash deposits in the river in Virginia and North Carolina.
