Two Rockingham Landmarks Join Historic Places Register

Two Shenandoah Valley landmarks have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Rockingham County’s Plains Mill was built in 1847 and remained in operation for 138 years. Meanwhile, both Confederate and Union forces visited Rockingham’s Melrose Caverns during the Civil War. Many of those soldiers left their names on the cavern walls.
