Two Democrats with ties to our area want to challenge Republican congressman Robert Hurt this fall.  The new man in the race is 47-year-old Lawrence Gaughan, who was born in Charlottesville while his father was at the UVA law school. Gaughan is an actor who created a nonprofit political advocacy group that’s based in Southern California. He set up his “Gov360” organization in 2009. Fellow Democrat Ben Hudson has also launched a campaign for Congress. The 53-year-old Hudson is a Fluvanna County resident who’s been teaching school since he retired from the U.S. Army. Hudson’s Facebook page shows him meeting with students at Hampden-Sydney College. Robert Hurt hopes to win a third term in Congress on November 4th.
