Medicaid Expansion Feedback For Deeds, Toscano

Medicaid Expansion Feedback For Deeds, Toscano

Area lawmakers heard passionate arguments Wednesday about an issue that’s kept the General Assembly from adopting a new state budget. Delegate David Toscano and State Senator Creigh Deeds held a town hall meeting to discuss the possible expansion of Virginia’s Mediciad program. They heard from area residents such as Linda O’Connor. She decribed being sandwiched between two generations of her family who need help with their medical needs. Many critics of the 2010 Affordable Care Act also mobilized and displayed posters that support the Republican majority in the House of Delegates. The GOP Delegates say 2014 is the wrong time to expand Medicaid in Virginia.  The General Assembly will reconvene Monday and try to adopt a new two-year budget.
