Three people, including two children under the age of 10, were killed in a Saturday morning fire in Albemarle County. The fire happened at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday inside a second floor apartment at 870 Carriage Trail Place. That’s near 250 East in the Keswick area. Albemarle Fire and Rescue says crews were able to pull a boy who was 6 to 8 years old from the building, but he died at the scene. The bodies of the boy’s mother and a younger sister in the 2 to 4 year old age range were found elsewhere in the burning structure. County officials say the father of the family arrived home from work and found the apartment engulfed in flames. The father was injured and transported to UVA Hospital. Three people who lived in a first-floor apartment made it out safely.
