A former leader of the Jefferson Area Tea Party does not welcome the Albemarle Supervisors’ interest in equal taxing powers for counties and cities. Carole Thorpe (pictured) hopes the supervisors won’t try to find new ways to tax county residents. Some supervisors favor teaming up with the Virginia Association of Counties to pursue equal taxing powers. The General Assembly has traditionally rejected that idea.
