The University of Virginia’s first opponent in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is Michigan State University. One Wahoo who does not need a crash course on what’s up with these Michigan State Spartans is UVA President Teresa Sullivan (pictured in red). Sullivan is a 1970 alumna of the East Lansing, Michigan school. Here’s another ironic footnote.  The teams that got to join UVA and Michigan State in New York as the East regional members of the Sweet 16 represent Connecticut and Iowa State. A past leader of the University of Connecticut is UVA President Emeritus John Casteen, who was the “U-Conn” President from 1985-90.

FILE - In this Jan. 31, 2014, file photo, Amanda Knox prepares to leave the set following a television interview in New York. Knox is engaged to Colin Sutherland, a musician who recently moved to Seattle from New York, a person close to the Knox family confirmed for The Associated Press. Knox’s murder conviction in the 2007 stabbing of her roommate has been reinstated by an Italian court, but the former college exchange student maintains her innocence and vows she won’t willingly go back to Italy.
