Supervisors Reject School Board Money Request

Supervisors Reject School Board Money Request

A divided Albemarle Board of Supervisors has voted against giving the County School Board extra money to cover one-time expenses. School Board Chairman Ned Gallaway (pictured left) asked for more money for a new environmental studies academy at Western Albemarle High School and several other items. The school division already has $125,000 to upgrade the WAHS science labs. Diantha McKeel and Brad Sheffield were the only supervisors who supported the school board’s full request. School Superintendent Pam Moran says it would have been nice to have the extra money, but she wasn’t counting on getting it.
