A lower tax rate than what was advertized. The Albemarle supervisors have approved a real estate tax rate of 79.9 cents. The proposed rate was 80.8 cents for every $100 of assessed value. Following several votes Tuesday that ended on 3-3 ties, a majority of the board finally agreed to a real estate tax rate of 79.9 cents. The final vote was 5-1 with Ken Boyd voting against it. That’s 3.3 cents above the current rate.
