Shenandoah National Park Determines Cause Of Recent Forest Fire

The fire that charred 450 acres in the southern end of Shenandoah National Park was caused by an illegal campfire. Park officials say rain, sleet and snow put the fire out before it reached containment lines. A layer of snow still covers much of the Crimora area where the fire was discovered last week. When the snow melts, crews will check for hot spots. Several trails remained closed for safety.
