A man was killed in a crash Thursday night in the southern part of Albemarle. The victim is identified as 35-year-old Randolph Wood, Jr. of Schuyler. County Police say Wood was driving an older model pickup that was heading west on Route 6 when it went off the road and hit a tree. It happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. near Esmont Road. Police say speed was a likely factor. Wood was the only one in the pickup. It’s the second fatal accident this year in Albemarle County.
