Some people can’t sit around for a few minutes with no cellphones or other distractions. A new study from the University of Virginia found some adults would shock themselves rather than be alone with their thoughts. They were amazed that so many participants chose to get a mild electric shock rather than sit quietly and contemplate. The participants ranged in age from 18 to 77.
