A new study from the University of Virginia found some adults would shock themselves rather than be alone with their thoughts. UVA Psychology Professor Tim Wilson says the results were surprising to some researchers. They were amazed that so many participants chose to get a mild electric shock rather than sit quietly and contemplate. The participants ranged in age from 18 to 77.
