No Real Estate Tax Rate Increase In Proposed City Budget

No increase in the real estate tax rate. That’s the bottom line for property owners in Charlottesville under┬áthe proposed budget from City Manager Maurice Jones (pictured). The rate would stay at 95 cents for every $100 assessed value. Jones wants city employees to get a 2% pay raise, and he wants to add a position in workforce development to help people find jobs. Another additional position would handle special projects such as an upcoming streetscaping effort along West Main. City residents would see no reduction in services.
