Slightly Higher Local Jobless Rate In March

The Virginia Employment Commission has released new jobless figures for this area. Our region’s average was 4.4% in March, which is one-tenth of a per cent higher than it was during the prior month. The Albemarle County figure was an exact match for the metropolitan area, while Charlottesville’s number was 4.7%. Fluvanna and Greene, which often get the label bedroom communities, have the best showings around here. They tied at 4.2%. Buckingham County represents the other end of the spectrum with a 6.7% figure. The statewide jobless for March was 5.3% and Our metro area was second best in the Commonwealth trailing only the Northern Virginia suburbs.
