Virginia’s new mental health reform panel met for the first time Monday in Richmond. It was created in response to last November’s attack on State Senator Creigh Deeds (pictured). The late Gus Deeds took his own life one day after a community services board could not find a psychiatric bed for him. Governor McAuliffe told WINA News he applauds the effort. The Governor was in Washington, D.C. Monday. He was the only elected official to stand with President Obama as he signed an executive order. It protects gay, lesbian and transgender employees who work for the federal government, or for companies that hold federal contracts.
