Navy Petty Officer Charged With Stabbing Fellow Sailor In Portsmouth

A man who’s accused of stabbing a fellow sailor near the Portsmouth Naval Hospital was arrested Friday evening in Virginia Beach. Navy Petty Officer Third Class Wilbur Harwell is charged with attacking a more senior enlisted man earlier in the day outside a Navy exchange. The 26-year-old Harwell is accused of stabbing Petty Officer Second Class Justin Powell of Sarver, Pennsylvania. The 25-year-old stabbing victim is in critical condition following surgery. The installation that includes the Portsmouth Naval Hospital was on a lockdown following the stabbing.
