A New Jersey man who’s been convicted of murdering a college student from Virginia has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years. Nicholas Welch has apologized to the family of Jessica Moore, but he says he didn’t think the 2010 shooting was his fault. Moore was a 19-year-old from Prince George County near Hopewell. She died at an off-campus house party near Seton Hall University in New Jersey. Prosecutors in the Garden State have accused Welch of brawling with party hosts after they refused to let him in. They told the jurors Welch went to a friend’s home and got a gun he used to shoot Moore.
