Monticello Prepares For Independence Day Crowd

Thomas Jefferson’s home will hold its annual July 4th celebration Friday. It will mark the 52nd annual naturalization ceremony where dozens become new U.S. citizens. The event will start at 9 a.m. Friday. Monticello says visitors can park as early as 6:30 a.m. at PVCC, and shuttle buses will leave the Piedmont parking lot beginning at 7:30. The ceremony welcomes 73 people from 39 nations. They’ll hear from guest speaker David Rubenstein, a regent at the Smithsonian Institution and the Vice-Chair of the Council on Foreign Relations.
