Residents of the Mill Creek subdivision have told Albemarle officials they won’t accept any trash and recycling centers in their neighborhood. The county is considering setting up convenience centers, including one near the Mill Creek Fire Station. Mary Maldonado believes a facility would generate too much traffic and the odor would detract from the neighborhood. Community Development Director Mark Graham fielded questions during a Thursday night meeting (pictured) at Monticello High School. Graham says a convenience center would not be a county dump. He says it would be useful to many families. The county has also been considering a convenience center off Route 20 South near Keene. The board of supervisors will hold a January 8th public hearing that will focus on these sites.
