Governor McDonnell says he’s working to help people with mental health issues. The governor is setting up a task force to look at ways to improve how the state responds to a crisis, and how to prevent a mental health crisis from happening in the first place. McDonnell says his proposed budget includes $38 million over the next two years for critical mental health and substance-use disorder programs. He says the goal is to make sure there’s no delay for those who need help. One idea is to expand the amount of time that somebody can be detained while room is found in a treatment facility.
