Man Who Spent 30 Years In General Assembly Has Died

Many of Virginia’s political leaders are mourning former State Senator Benny Lambert. The Richmond Democrat died Sunday at age 77. Lambert was first elected to the House of Delegates (pictured)┬áin 1977, and he became a state senator after Doug Wilder’s 1985 election as Lieutenant Governor. Lambert was an eye doctor, and the first African-American to sit on the State Senate Finance Committee.
