Latest Jobless Reading Down Slightly

Another slight drop in the local jobless rate. It was 4% in December, down .1% from the month before. It was down .7% from December 2012. Ann Lang of the Virginia Employment Commission says the holiday hiring period helped. The Charlottesville region has the second lowest jobless reading in the state and the 25th lowest in the U.S. Lang says the rate will probably go up just a bit when the January figure comes in.
