Jury Deliberations Underway In McDonnells’ Trial

The jury in the federal corruption trial of former Governor Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen began deliberating at noon Monday. That followed instructions from Judge James Spencer. Several witnesses, including the former first couple’s daughter Jeanine, told tales of a shattered marriage. The defense says the two could not have conspired to do special favors for supplement maker Jonnie Williams since they were barely on speaking terms. The prosecution says there were hundreds of text messages between Bob and Maureen McDonnell, debunking the claim that they were not getting along. The jury deliberated for five hours Monday.
