A University of Virginia men’s lacrosse player will have to spend some time in jail for punching  a police officer shortly before last Thanksgiving in the face. 21-year-old Carl Douglas Walrath (pictured) was sentenced to ten days in jail. He’ll also have to perform 50 hours of community service. Charlottesville Police say the student-athlete was among several people involved in a fight on University Avenue in the early morning hours of November 24th. Walrath is accused of hitting an officer who was trying to break up the fight.
