Citing interference, the┬álead investigator of the events that led to the attack on Senator Creigh Deeds by his son has resigned. Douglas Bevelacqua, the director of the inspector general program for behavioral health in Virginia, has stepped down from the case. In a letter to Governor McAuliffe, Bevelacqua writes that revisions by his boss would diminish the report’s value. His boss is Inspector General Michael Morehart. The state is reviewing the events that led up to the November 19th incident. Deeds’ son, 24-year-old “Gus” Deeds, had been released from an expired emergency custody order 13 hours before he attacked his father before killing himself.
