Increase In Stomach Bug Cases For Holiday Season

The state health department is forecasting an increase in cases of the stomach bug just in time for the holiday season. They say norovirus is on the rise. It’s a highly contagious gastrointestinal virus that circulates throughout the year but increases during the winter time. Last season, the Virginia Department of Health investigated 184 outbreaks of norovirus statewide. It usually goes away on its own without requiring hospital care.
