Increasing the cigarette tax by 20 cents a pack. That’s in the budget from City Manager Maurice Jones. It would go from 30 to 55 cents a pack. City Council went over Jones’ proposed budget Wednesday night. The school system is asking for $1.7 million in new money and Jones is offering $1.5 million.
