Hatton Ferry Begins 2014 Season This Month

The Hatton Ferry is back for another season. The only pole-operated ferry still operating in the U.S. starts up Saturday, April 19th.¬† The ferry crosses the James River (pictured) on a regular basis until late October and it’s free. Up to six people and two cars can be taken at a time on a round trip to Buckingham County that takes between 30 and 45 minutes. The Hatton Ferry Committee will have a fundraising picnic on the opening day of April 19th.¬†Advance tickets are $10, and $12 the day of the event.
