Governor Joins Creigh Deeds For Bill Signing At UVA

Governor McAuliffe and State Senator Creigh Deeds came together Monday for a ceremonial bill signing at the University of Virginia Medical Center.  The legislation is designed to guarantee admission for psychiatric care when a patient is being held on an emergency custody order. The Bath County Democrat introduced his bill after his son, the late Gus Deeds. was sent home by a community service board last November. Gus Deeds attacked his father at their Millboro home and then took his own life. Senator Deeds (pictured) says he was both proud and relieved to see the delegates and senators put politics aside and pass a much-needed law.
