Former Virginia Cavalier standout Joe Harris is now on the summer league roster of the Cleveland Cavaliers, alongside number one draft pick Andrew Wiggins.  Harris, who was drafted #33 overall has played in two summer league games thus far after missing the first due to an injury.  Harris played 22 minutes last night, scoring six points, grabbing three rebounds and dishing out one assist.  Harris started the game as well, and has a decent shot to make a roster that would make him a teammate of the game’s greatest player, Lebron James. (James rejoined the Cavaliers late last week)  David Griffin, General Manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers likes what he sees in Harris…”Heck of a pin down shooter, ..great coming off screens….a very tough kid an overachieving personality type, someone that we have high hopes for.”

The Cavaliers will certainly need shooters to play with James, but the Cavaliers are also reportedly trying to lure free agent shooters Mike Miller and Ray Allen to the team to rejoin James.  Harris, a consistent deep threat could be a help to James and has demonstrated enough athleticism to defend at the NBA level as well.  Ted Jeffries, men’s basketball color analyst for the Virginia Sports Network, joined the show to discuss the potential of Harris making the team.  ” I think for him it’s finding out what he does best and locking in on it.  I think what we’ve come to know about Joe is that obviously he’s a very selfless player, but he’s got a picture perfect form as a shooter.  I think that’s where he’s gotta butter his bread in the NBA.  That’s what Lebron is gonna need…he’s a drive, draw, slash kind of guy [he] obviously has improved his shooting ability, but he needs a collective amount of shooters so he can create opportunities for guys and I think that’s where Joe can score some minutes with this Cavalier team.”  You can hear the interview with Ted Jeffries in it’s entirety here: http://wina.com/best-seat/ted-jeffries-5/
