For Us To Set New Record, We’d Need Minus Figure

If you ‘re not a fan of a winter deep freeze, you better hope this week’s temperatures don’t break any records.  State Climatologist Jerry Stenger, who tracks the highs and lows at UVA’s McCormick Observatory, says the all-time low was established two decades ago. That was a minus 10 reading on January 19th, 1994. Stenger (pictured) says the latest arctic blast is a function of the jet stream. He was a Monday guest on WINA’s “Charlottesville…Right Now.”
