Fluvanna Woman Faces Embezzlement Charges

A Lake Monticello woman has been charged with embezzling as much as $1 milion dollars from her former employer. The Fluvanna Review is reporting Brenda van Emmenis turned herself in Wednesday and posted a $10,000 bond. Van Emmenis worked for Fork Union’s National Filter Service for 11 years. Company owner Chris Fairchild says he fired her when he discovered the theft in March. She now faces 20 felony charges. Most are for embezzling more than $200, and the rest are for conducting unlawful transactions. Van Emmenis makes her first court appearance on January 2nd.
