A former officer with the Fluvanna Chamber of Commerce has been sentenced to ten years in prison. Brenda Van Emmenis was convicted of embezzling from National Filter Service in Fork Union over a six-year period. The Fluvanna Review newspaper reports that in addition to the ten-year prison term, Van Emmenis must pay $850,000 in restitution. She pleaded guilty to 13 counts of embezzlement and seven counts of money laundering. Van Emmenis once served as vice-president of the Fluvanna Chamber of Commerce.
