Request To Remove ABC Store From Starr Hill

Request To Remove ABC Store From Starr Hill

A Fifeville resident wants to remove a state-run liquor store from the Starr Hill neighborhood. Mike Signer (pictured) believes the ABC store on West Main Street is too convenient for vulnerable populations at the Salvation Army shelter, the Haven, and the Crossings. Signer says that section of town has problems with people being drunk-in-public, and public urination. The State ABC Board built the store in the 500-block of West Main Street more than two decades ago. The late Mitch van Yahres, who spent 25 years in the House of Delegates, tried to persuade state officials to put it somewhere else.
