Virginia Receives Bonus For Food Stamp Management

Uncle Sam is giving Virginia a $1.7 million bonus for its performance using food stamps, which the feds now call the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says Virginia has the lowest payment error rate in the country. More than 908,000 Virginians get food stamps and in the latest fiscal year, the Commonwealth issued $1.4 billion in SNAP benefits.
